March is National Quilting Month and my blog posts for Coats and Clark’s Sewing Secrets Blog are all about quilting this month!! (When I’m not on here, blogging for Coats is one of the things I do in my Sewful Life.) The first two are up – take a look and enjoy!
The first post will help you tackle and conquer those fabulous striped fabrics that sometimes puzzle quilters. How do you use them, where can you use them and what’s the best way to take advantage of their stripey-ness are all answered in this post. I gathered tutorials from several marvelously skilled quilters such as Jenny Doan and I know you’ll love their hints and tips. Bright colors and prints are fun to play with in quilting and creating a rainbow can be magical! From wonderful quilters such as Cluck Cluck Sew, I found a gorgeous array of rainbow quilt tutorials for you. They come in all shapes and sizes and include a very modern improv quilt you’ll love. Pull out your stash, run to the store to add more and quilt the rainbow! Click here for my Quilting the Rainbow with Fabulous Color post on the Sewing Secrets blog.
I’ll have two more quilting posts for you soon – watch this spot! They include Color Value in Quilting and inspiration from the Quilt Discovery Experience in Nebraska. I love writing these posts for Coats and Clark and exploring the amazing things that quilters and sewists are making out in the blog-o-sphere! There’s so much we can learn from each other and I’m ecstatically happy to share it all with you!
March 17th is Worldwide Quilting Day this year, too. Call your nearest LQS (Local Quilt Shop) to find out how they’re celebrating. Then gather your quilty friends and plan a day out to quilt with joy!!
Happy National Quilting Month to all my Quilter friends . . . here’s to you and your amazing handmade legacy! Quilt on and on and on and then quilt some more!!
