My Snowy Sewing Retreat

I’m prepping for my Sewing and Stitchery Expo classes. My home Sewing Spa is wonderful, but I had a chance to get away. And, just sew. In the mountains in a warm cabin.

With a beautiful view. Surrounded by snow. By myself. With daffodils sent along by my hubby. Yes, be jealous!

Day One was Closet Case Patterns day. I’m working with the oh-so-lovely Ebony Tee & Dress pattern and making one of each.

The Knits I’m working with are soft, scrumptious jerseys. They’re going to be fabulous! I’m so grateful to my class sponsor, Pacific Fabrics for taking care of me.

The beginning of my day was spent happily unloading totes, sorting and setting up. Even though I packed them myself, it was a little like Christmas. I loved creating my own little snowy sew world.

The next step was a surprise for my sewing machine and serger. Unthreading, cleaning, oiling and retreading were all on the machine spa menu. They were so thrilled, you should have seen them. Smiling, purring, glowing – everything you want for your hard-working, best sewing buds.

For awhile the cabin was sweetly filled with the scent of lavender and the awesome sounds of Paul McCartney. Later on there was a Remington-Steele-DVD-a-Thon and, of course, food. Spelt flakes, sliced almonds and blueberries for breakfast. Rosemary crackers, chèvre and olives mid-afternoon. Tonight there will be peppermint tea at bedtime. Life is pretty tasty in the snowy sewing cabin!

Internet is limited and sporadic here. There’s no cell service, radio or TV. Bliss, I tell you. Absolute Bliss!

Yes, the Terrier came, too and brought her newest bone. She doesn’t sew, but she is essential for blissful sewing. I didn’t tell her there would be snow, though. She’s not a fan. It’s tough when you’re furry, but really short.

I’ll try to check in again soon, but for now I’m headed for cozy, down-wrapped sleep. And, tomorrow, more and more and more sew!!

  1. I’m jealous, and I don’t like snow. Just all the time to yourself is dreamy. Have loads of fun.
