My Ivy Tunic
About a year ago, I received a nice compliment from Teresa, owner of Texture Clothing in Bellingham. She had noticed my Sewing Workshop Ivy Tunic, since the main stripe is one of her fabrics. I’d become a big fan while making the tunic and didn’t actually realize they had fabric online. Normally, when you shop in the store, you can point out a fabric in a garment and they will run downstairs and cut some for you. It’s pretty exciting and that’s how I chose the stripy fabric.
The Project
Teresa and I had a nice convo and struck up a deal (be still my sewing heart) that involved me sewing and writing another post. It took me about 2 seconds to say yes and two gorgeous fabrics arrived in the mail shortly after that.
I decided to make Indygo Junction’s Slight Sleeve Top and add a bit of Alabama Chanin style reverse applique to the yoke. I’m oh-so-pleased with how it’s turning out and can hardly wait to wear it. But I’m going to have to finish it first! Sigh . . . just after the fabric arrived and I got started, my hubby had a health crisis and that took a bit of time. Because he’s really important. Even more important than sewing. So, I set the project aside.
Teresa has been very patient with me and the project has received some dedicated attention along the way. Hubby is doing well, the yoke is done and waiting to be attached to the bottom of the top. So, watch for a full tutorial on how this was done, soon. Seriously, in the next couple of weeks. Making a public commitment will help me!
How About You?
In the meantime, if you have a slow, goes-on-and-on, project, get it out and give it a little love again. They don’t expire and you can work at any pace that fits your life. Just sewing, at any speed, in any amount, will improve your life, thrill your soul, clear your mind and keep a great smile on your face.
