You can take a look at some of their fabrics online here.  For lots more, if you’re anywhere in Western Washington, you can pop in the car and visit them in Bellingham WA. It’s a pretty cool place and they make all their clothing right there. Everything will be in the warehouse around the back this weekend, March 29th – 31st from 11 am – 6 pm. Fabric and Clothing at 30% off and fabric scrap bags for just $5.00!

My Ivy Tunic

About a year ago, I received a nice compliment from Teresa, owner of Texture Clothing in Bellingham. She had noticed my Sewing Workshop Ivy Tunic, since the main stripe is one of her fabrics. I’d become a big fan while making the tunic and didn’t actually realize they had fabric online. Normally, when you shop in the store, you can point out a fabric in a garment and they will run downstairs and cut some for you. It’s pretty exciting and that’s how I chose the stripy fabric.

The Project

Teresa and I had a nice convo and struck up a deal (be still my sewing heart) that involved me sewing and writing another post. It took me about 2 seconds to say yes and two gorgeous fabrics arrived in the mail shortly after that.

Slight Sleeve pattern

I decided to make Indygo Junction’s Slight Sleeve Top and add a bit of Alabama Chanin style reverse applique to the yoke. I’m oh-so-pleased with how it’s turning out and can hardly wait to wear it. But I’m going to have to finish it first! Sigh . . . just after the fabric arrived and I got started, my hubby had a health crisis and that took a bit of time. Because he’s really important. Even more important than sewing. So, I set the project aside.

Design with bead audition

Teresa has been very patient with me and the project has received some dedicated attention along the way. Hubby is doing well, the yoke is done and waiting to be attached to the bottom of the top. So, watch for a full tutorial on how this was done, soon. Seriously, in the next couple of weeks. Making a public commitment will help me!

How About You?

In the meantime, if you have a slow, goes-on-and-on, project, get it out and give it a little love again. They don’t expire and you can work at any pace that fits your life. Just sewing, at any speed, in any amount, will improve your life, thrill your soul, clear your mind and keep a great smile on your face.

And, if you need a public commitment to motivate you, leave me a comment. I’d be glad to offer my heartfelt encouragement. We’re all in this together!

  1. Such an inspiring post! I’ve been in love with Natalie’s work for years – I’ve tried it on a couple of items and couldn’t claim any success with them. It’s a lot harder than it looks! I also followed the link to Texture Clothing and ordered the natural hemp but STOPPED at the checkout when the shipping turned out to be a whopping $50 to Canada (and this is only from Bellingham to Victoria – we’re only a jump across the strait from each other!!) With the difference in our dollars my order would have reached the stratosphere compared to what I would pay here. This sale sadly is not for Canadians just a FYI 🙂

    1. Im excited that I inspired you, Kathleen!! I’m hoping to try more Alabama-ish and bought her Craftsy class. There will be more posts! Oh, my. Shipping to Canada is just awful these days. I wonder if you called them if they might have a better way? I should just go on a road trip, stop in B-ham, and bring it to you. I love Victoria!!
